| This is Dean as his life would have been in a world unshaped by the Supernatural. His mother died in a house fire when he was very young, leaving him and his brother Sam to the care of his father. John was devastated by the loss of his wife and threw himself back into his career, frequently leaving Dean and Sam behind- at first, with Bobby and Ellen, but by themselves as they got older. Dean grew up highly protective of his brother, more concerned with raising him and keeping their family together than anything else. He was an average student, sometimes slipping to below average due to his inattentiveness and his troubles at home. Ellen and Bobby kept him on track- more on track than John ever did- and he went to vocational school to learn to be a mechanic, after Bobby. He went on to work at Bobby's garage, and gave a good portion to help put Sam through college. Everything was going well enough, until Sam's fiance Jessica was tragically killed in a house fire. Sam dropped out of college, and Dean took a few weeks off of work to help support him through it. The two of them went on an extended road trip, driving wherever they felt like it until Sam could get his head on straight. It took work, however, slowly but surely, things were turning out alright. And then there was the accident. John became obsessed with it, immediately linking several key pieces of evidence from the two fires together. The three of them were meeting to have a serious discussion about it all, when they were struck head-on by a drunk driver. John was killed instantly, and Dean suffered a traumatic head injury, leading to a four-month coma. This broke Sam, who turned self-destructive with the belief that Dean would be brain-dead for the rest of his life. He fled, and shacked up with a bitch named Ruby. She introduced him to the wonderful world of drugs, and by the time Dean regained consciousness, Sam was hooked on a dizzying rainbow of narcotic substances. Now, Dean struggles with the guilt of the accident, blaming himself and his inability to protect his brother or convince him to stop. The two fight frequently, and though Dean hasn't given up just yet, it weighs on him virtually all the time. He spends his life in an apartment, his days working at Bobby's garage and his nights connecting with Bobby, Ellen, Jo, and Sam, his family. All in all, just a normal life. |
